 The legislation provides vouchers of $3,500 to $4,500 to customers who trade in their rides for new vehicles that are more fuel-efficent.

Q. What vehicles are eligible for the money?
A. Your trade-in must be between the years of 1984 – 2002.
Your trade must be in “drivable condition”
Your trade must have been continuously insured and registered to their owners for at least one year.
Your trade must have a combined fuel economy of 18 mpg or less.
Your trade must be turned into scrappage, when traded-in.
Q. How do I know how much I qualify for?
A. For a $4,500 voucher:
- Your new car must beat your trades’ combined fuel economy by at least 10 mpg.
- Your new small light trucks must improve on your trades’ combined fuel ecomony by at lease 5 mpg.
- Your new large light trucks must beat your same-class trades’ combined fuel economy by at least 2 mpg.
For a $3,500 voucher:
- Your new car must improve on your trades’ combined fuel economy by at least 4 mpg.
- Your new small light truck must beat your trades’ combined fuel economy by at least 2 mpg.
- Your new large light truck must improve on your same-class trades’ combined fuel economy by at
least 1 mpg, or you must replace a larger-class light truck from model year 2001 or earlier.
- Your largest light truck qualifies if your trades’ is the same size or larger and from model year 2001 and
earlier.
Q. What new vehicles do I have to purchase?
A. Your new car must have combined fuel economy of at least 22 mpg.
Your new small light trucks must have combined fuel economy of at least 18 mpg.
Your new large light trucks must have combined fuel economy of at least 15 mpg.
Your new vehicle must have suggested retail price of $45,000 or less.
